The new bypass route through the industrial zone brought peace and security to Holešov

The autumn of 2023 was marked by significant changes for Holešov and its residents. While traffic jams and the endless movement of heavy goods vehicles have long been a significant problem for the city, the opening of a new bypass route through the industrial zone has brought long-awaited relief. This change allowed trucks, which previously had no other option but to weave through the city center, to bypass Holešov in a more gentle way. The industrial zone thus came to meet the town of Holešov and now plays a key role in streamlining traffic and ensuring smooth passage for heavy goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes.

Radovan Macháček, chairman of the board of the regional company ZRIA, which is in charge of the industrial zone, recently responded to the iDNES.cz server about the traffic situation in the Holešov Zone: "The zone is large enough, there are no collision situations or columns. It is true that private cars also drive here, but most of them have permits, and the city police occasionally check it. There will certainly be hundreds of trucks, some heading to local businesses, some passing through. We have no problem with that."

"On the basis of the contract that was negotiated between Zóna Holešov and Eurovia as a representative of the contractor of the D49 highway from Hulín to Fryšták, in the event of damage to the road due to the increased movement of trucks, it will be repaired. However, cars transporting dangerous substances are prohibited from entering the Holešov Strategic Industrial Zone," added Macháček.

The passage through the center of Holešov was caused by the closure of the so-called Šindelnica from Zahnašovice to Martinice, where construction work is currently underway on the D49 highway (construction of bridge structures and laying of a cement-concrete cover). The current schedule still envisages its commissioning by the end of 2024, despite the fact that in recent weeks it has faced delays due to eco-activists and the judgment of the Regional Court in Brno regarding the location of 22 buildings.

In addition to the new D49 highway, the planned roundabout in Všetuly at the western exit from the industrial zone, the construction of which began at the turn of February and March, will also be important for the Holešov Strategic Industrial Zone. Even though this roundabout will not be a direct part of the zone, it will significantly help it to run smoother and safer. It should be built this autumn, the estimated cost is less than 50 million crowns.

This combination of infrastructural improvements indicates the beginning of a new era not only for Holešov, but also for the entire Zlín region, where the main priorities are safety, traffic flow and improving the quality of life of local residents. Thanks to the well-thought-out use of the industrial zone and the construction of key transport infrastructure, the Zlín region thus becomes an example of an effective solution to transport challenges.
